Danse Lumiere presented the Ballet Pop Up at the Ailey Studios, NYC, on October 19th. The Pop-Up Ballet, curated by Artistic Director Kathryn Roszak, featured works inspired by literature and contemporary voices, including The House of the Spirits and a tribute to Jane Austen’s 250th anniversary.
This one-day-only performance included guest artists from New York City Ballet in an intimate salon setting. The event featured innovative ballet works that combined narrative, literature, and motion, alongside cinematic ballet experiences.
Featured Artists & Works:
Choreographer Laine Habony (Dancer New York City Ballet) will present “Nocturne” and other recent works from PointeWorks and Revolve Dance.
Kathryn Roszak, offers choreographic interpretations of literary works by Isabel Allende and Jane Austen —the latter celebrating the 250th anniversary of the author's birth—as well as abstract narratives.
Guest dancers: Victor Abreu (New York City Ballet) and Alexa Maxwell (soloist, New York City Ballet).
Composers: Katie Jenkins, Esa Pekka Salonen, Mads Tolling, and Cellist Noelia Carrasco
