Welcome to the Kathryn Roszak Children’s Dance program.  For the past five years we have offered highly trained, enthusiastic teachers in a creative, supportive atmosphere.  The program takes place in the largest dance studio in Berkeley for children, with ample opportunity for parents to observe. Creative Movement classes give each child nurturing attention. The Ballet class offers children a chance to be part of a performance. 

NEW: Children’s Performance Group (1/11-5/9, +18 sessions, ages 9-12+ yrs.) takes place on Wed. 4.30-5.30 p.m.  Outreach performances.  Various levels , musicality, creativity and the joy of dancing encouraged.  All ballet classes: $282. Spring performance included. EarlyBird/Sibling discounts available. Limited Scholarships. ENROLLMENT ONGOING until filled..

Creative Movement
/ Pre-Ballet (3-5 years), Mondays  3.30-4.15 p.m.
Dance, Creativity, Fun! Children learn coordination, cooperation, and the joy of dance.
Offered in two eight week sessions:
Session 1 - January 9 to February 27, 2012
Session 2 - March 5 to April 23, 2012
$112 per session. ENROLLMENT ONGOING until filled.

To hold a place in class send a $35.00 non-refundable deposit per child which will be applied to the tuition balance.  Tuition balance is due at the first class.

Beginning and Intermediate Ballet (ages 5-12+):  A few spaces left:
Mondays starts 1/9-5/7,  (18 sessions, 5-7 yrs.) 4.15-5.15 p.m. and/or Wednesdays (1/11-5/9, 18 sessions, 6-8 yrs) 3.30-4.30 p.m.

If your child wishes to take twice weekly, there is a 20% discount.   To hold a place in class send a $35.00 non-refundable deposit per child which will be applied to tuition balance.  Tuition balance is due at the first class.

There are no refunds, but at the discretion of the director there can be credit towards the next class series. In addition we offer the following discount: 10% discounts for siblings.

NEW:  CHOREOGRAPHY CORNER: JAZZ, MODERN, CHOREOGRAPHY: We are adding special 5 week workshop-Choreography Corner (Jan-Feb) including a ballet barre, jazz, modern and choreography on Monday 5.15-6.15 p.m. for the Wednesday 4.30 p.m. class members (possible qualifying 3.30 p.m. class members-see Kathryn).  Those participating will receive an additional special part in the Bridge Dance to be rehearsed in this workshop (see below).

INTRODUCTORY RATE FOR WORKSHOP: We are offering a special introductory rate for this workshop in combination with the Wednesday 4.30 class of $280 when you sign up by December 1st.  The workshop would normally cost $85.00 and when you register this way you save an additional $40.00 on tuition and pay less than the full amount to attend twice weekly.

Suggested class attire:
Creative Movement: Wear what is comfortable.
Girls taking ballet: leotard and tights with ballet slippers.
Boys taking ballet: tee shirt, tights and ballet shoes.

Kathryn Roszak trained on Ford Foundation Scholarships at Balanchine’s School of American Ballet in New York and at the San Francisco Ballet School.  She danced as a soloist with the San Francisco Opera Ballet and has choreographed for A.C.T., San Francisco Opera Center and for productions with her own company in New York, Washington D.C., and Copenhagen, Denmark. She has taught children at Marin Ballet, San Francisco Ballet’s Center for Dance Education, and at A.C.T.  Her dance company Danse Lumiere performs and teaches in schools, and in the last five years Ms. Roszak has developed an innovative and exciting dance program for children, which includes a special dance summer camp.  Other instructors: Terese Hoibye: Norwegian National Ballet School, performer Edinborough Festival,  Nancy Skinner: popular Bay Area childrens’ teacher and choreographer.
