Welcome to the Kathryn Roszak Children’s Dance program.  For the past five years we have offered highly trained, enthusiastic teachers in a creative, supportive atmosphere.  The program takes place in the largest dance studio in Berkeley for children, with ample opportunity for parents to observe. Creative Movement classes give each child nurturing attention. The Ballet class offers children a chance to be part of a studio performance. 

NEW: Children’s Performance Group has extended class on Wednesdays and will participate in outside performances. Please note: All classes fill fast. Questions? Call 510-233-5550.

Creative Movement (ages 3-5 years)
Offered in two eight week sessions: Mondays and Wednesdays 3:30-4:15 p.m.
Mondays: January 11, 2010 - March 1, 2010
Wednesdays: March 8, 2010 - April 26, 2010
The last class in the series is open for parents and family observation.
Cost is $112.00 per eight week session.

Beginning Ballet (level 1 ages 5-6 / level 2 ages 7-10)
There will be two eighteen week sessions of Beginning Ballet:
Mondays: January 4, 2010 - May 3, 2010 (level 1, ages 5-6 beginners) 4:15-5:15 p.m.
Wednesdays: Janaury 6, 2010 - May 5, 2010 (level 2, ages 7-10) 4:15-5:30 p.m.
The Children’s Performance Group takes the Wednesday class which extends to 5:30 p.m. 
Cost for Monday Ballet is $282.00

Children’s Performance Group (ages 6-10 Level 2 and Level 3)
The class is $324.00 for the session. To hold a place in class send a $35.00 non-refundable deposit per child which will be applied to tuition balance.  Tuition balance is due at the first class. Children in the Ballet program participate in a Spring Open House Recital. Pay by 11/11 and receive 10% discount

Last class for each session will include a studio performance. Children’s Performance Group particapates in a mini Nutcracker performance at Kensington Cumminity Center Dec. 8, 2009.

To hold a place in class send a $35.00 non-refundable deposit per child which will be applied to tuition balance.  Tuition balance due at first class.

There are no refunds, but at the discretion of the director there can be credit towards the next class series. In addition we offer the following discount: 10% discounts for siblings.

Suggested class attire:
Creative Movement: Wear what is comfortable.
Girls taking ballet: leotard and tights with ballet slippers.
Boys taking ballet: tee shirt, tights and ballet shoes.

Kathryn Roszak trained on Ford Foundation Scholarships at Balanchine’s School of American Ballet in New York and at the San Francisco Ballet School.  She danced as a soloist with the San Francisco Opera Ballet and has choreographed for A.C.T., San Francisco Opera Center and for productions with her own company in New York, Washington D.C., and Copenhagen, Denmark. She has taught children at Marin Ballet, San Francisco Ballet’s Center for Dance Education, and at A.C.T.  Her dance company Danse Lumiere performs and teaches in schools, and in the last five years Ms. Roszak has developed an innovative and exciting dance program for children, which includes a special dance summer camp.  Other instructors: Terese Hoibye: Norwegian National Ballet School, performer Edinborough Festival,  Nancy Skinner: popular Bay Area childrens’ teacher and choreographer  .
