Greetings, 

We have endeavored to create a small, high quality dance program for children.  Our program offers highly trained teachers with a great deal of experience working with children. We offer personal attention and time for parents to discuss their child’s progress. Here are some of our policies to help the program run smoothly.

Parent Observation: During dance class, we welcome parents’ quiet observation.  We suggest that once your child appears settled that you continue to observe from the area adjacent to the stage or from the lobby, where doors are kept open.  This allows the children the chance to focus on the class and the teacher.  Children learn at different rates. If you feel your child needs your presence, then you may stay in the room.  However, you may find that when you move further away, your child will actually engage with the class more.  We ask parents of young children to stay on the premises during class.
 
Attendance: Arriving early and/or promptly helps your child to be comfortable and participate more fully in the class.  We also suggest that children have a snack prior to class and have visited the bathroom. Please no snacks during class and no gum.  If your child will be absent, we’d appreciate receiving a phone call.  This is particularly important as we approach our open house presentation when we encourage your child’s steady attendance. 

Mid-session meetings (Ballet only): We’ll have a sign-up sheet for an optional five minute meeting with us to discuss your child’s progress. You’ll get an opportunity to hear how your child is progressing, suggestions for what to work on, and you’ll have an opportunity to give your feedback.  We can also talk with you by phone. Please feel free to speak with us anytime about your child’s progress.

Please label all articles including shoes.  We are not responsible for lost property

After Creative Movement class: We provide this time so that you can meet with the teacher.  Ashkenaz is a beautiful space.  We encourage quiet, supervised play.  Please be aware that other classes are about to begin.

After Class:  Please make sure we have numbers where we can contact you in emergencies.  Please pick your child up promptly. We sometimes must leave right away.

No photos until last class, please.  The last class of each series is open for parent observation and you may bring cameras etc.

Returned check policy: There is a $25 charge on returned checks.
Late Fee:  Tuition balance is due on the first day you attend class.  If paid later there is a $15.00 late fee.

Parents who have another adult transport their child to class: Please make sure to attend to any unpaid balances, by sending a check along with your child to class.  Please ensure that all belongings are picked up.

In addition to the teaching skills you see in class, a lot of preparation goes into creating our small program; from scheduling the space, to planning classes, and communicating with parents.  So, we thank you for helping by abiding by our policies. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or speak with your teacher after class.  We look forward to happy dancing!
